The best ramen in Japan has to be from Akabane Jiro. The hand make the noodles, they pile in the ingredients and they heap on the garlic. If you get a chance, eat there! There are a few shops throughout tokyo but be prepared to wait. I have yet to go there and not seen a line of people waiting to get in.

I was spoiled by a trip to Japan where good Ramen shops were often within talking distance of each other. Sydney is different, the really good shops are often far apart and difficult to find unless you already know what you're looking for.
"Ramenkan" is like this. A friend introduced me to it, it's a shop on the first floor (for you americans who for some reason don't have a ground floor on your buildings, that means it's one level above ground level.) The sign is fairly noninvasive and if I wasn't looking for it I would never have found it by accident.
Their ramen is quite good - I had the miso tonkatsu ramen (I love miso ramen in general.) I can't remember what the rest of our group had but everybody was happy with their choices.
The name of the store might suggest they only sell ramen but in fact they have a fairly wide range of other Japanese cuisine available. I tried their takoyaki as well and it was good, but IMHO there are stores which do better.
Definitely planning to return the next time the ramen cravings return. :-)
